How Should One Prepare for the UGC NET/JRF 2019 for Law?


UGC NET 2019 exam is the best opportunity for you if you are looking to get a job as an Assistant Professor or JRF (Junior Research Fellow) in any prestigious government college or university in India. UGC NET is a national level test which is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the minimum required ability of candidate for teaching professions and research.

Paper II Pattern for UGC NET Law:

The length of the Paper II is total 100 questions, these will be MCQ (Multiple choice questions with the single correct answer). From June 2019, Paper I & Paper II will be conducted in a single three-hour duration.

The exam however still remains a tough task to clear; especially since the passing percentage is now total 6% officially.

Paper II Syllabus for UGC NET Law:

Coming to the syllabus of UGC NET 2019 Law exam, the overall syllabus has now been published by the UGC. But there is no allocation of marks given by them - like 20% from Constitutional law etc.

Now deep study may not work as the new syllabus essentially covers all the topics which you can find in a full 3-year LLB course. So, Smart study will be the right approach for candidates preparing for exam.

How to Prepare for UGC NET/JRF 2019 for Law:

Step 1 : Practice as many previous year’s question papers as possible-

You have to practice as many question papers from previous years as possible. Solving questions will give you idea with type and level of questions and how much time you take to solve them. Practicing will improve your accuracy and speed over time which will be definitely going to help you during exam hours.

Generally, questions asked in the paper are from key areas of subject; which you would have already been covered in the UGC-NET previous year question paper if you solved them and this will be beneficial for you.

By solving old papers also helps you understand the main topics of law subject and you can quickly cover those topics by solving 3-4 questions only.

Step 2 : Try to solve objective type questions-

The UGC NET Law paper have almost similar questions from the other Post Graduate Law exams like Judicial Services, CLAT PG, LLM entrance exams etc.

That means solving many mock tests and question papers will give you more confidence and clear your doubts. You need to practice until you start scoring at least 85% marks, because in the months of exam nearby you can give more mock test and you will start getting right answers.

Step 3 : Practice whenever you have chance-

You might know that solving full length questions is not possible all the time but if you have small time which you can optimize to learn then do utilize it by solving small questions which will not take your much time.
